What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique, commonly known as Tapping, is a psychotherapeutic tool which can help relieve many psychological conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, dealing with grief, addictions and phobias to name a few. It can also be helpful with weight loss and reducing food cravings.
EFT has a wide and varied range of applications and is known to be particularly helpful in letting go of mental and emotional blocks such as limiting beliefs or traumatic memories/experiences which can hold us back from achieving our best.
Tapping is a gentle, investigative talk therapy with the an added body component where specific parts of the face and are ‘tapped’ on lightly to stimulate meridian points and release energy blockages.
How does EFT work?
EFT is often described as Psychological Acupuncture as it utilizes the meridian system from traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments without the use of needles.
Simple tapping of the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto 12 specific meridian points on the head, chest and fingers while thinking about a specific issue, for example a disturbing event or emotion. These points correspond to meridians used in Chinese medicine.
The theory behind EFT is that negative emotions, e.g, worry, fear, sorrow, grief, anger, guilt, are caused by disturbances in the body’s energy field. Tapping on relevant meridian points while thinking of a specific negative emotion (issue) alters the body’s energy field restoring it to balance.
